Moonscapes: December 2018

Calendar by Moon Body Soul
A new quest begins in the sign of fire (Sagittarius) and then our depths are illuminated with the watery Cancer Moon... we must stick close to our plan and our vision as to not lose our way.

The Gypsy Moon - New Moon in Sagittarius - December 7, 2018

"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your wild and precious life?"
- Mary Oliver
Word is this new moon is very lucky, attracting miraculous circumstances and revelations. This is because Jupiter has entered this sign, so imagine the heavens shining a spotlight on your desire to embrace new experiences, new people, and new lands. Even if you're east-bound and down, you can activate the excitement of the Gypsy Moon by experiencing new cultures in your own backyard. Take in a show, venture to a new restaurant, go see a foreign film at the Metro...

The energy of the Fool is what you want to embrace. This is the new vision, the life-expanding possibilities. Say yes to what comes your way and lightens your heart. This energy will be taking place over the next few days, so if you're writing your wish lists for 2019, creating a vision board or recording your Life Plan, now is the time to put all your energy behind it. Jupiter will give you a fortuitous boost.

Sea Mother's Moon - Full Moon in Cancer - December 22, 2018

"For whatever we lose (like a you or a me), it's always ourself we find in the sea."
- E.E. Cummings

Watery, dark and illuminated, the Sea Mother's Moon is Cancer in her element. This brings forth the depths of our heart, the dualistic forms and contradictions that evoke lust and madness, revelation and release. Think of the Mother, elements of infinite love and wisdom and her tides that turn deadly.

I remember this feeling I had at the foot of the waves in Tofino, about to wander in with the other surfers even though I couldn't swim... the ocean is conscious and feminine. And no, I wasn't high. I just felt it so intensely, like it was always true and I was just now permitted to know it. I loved the force of catching waves with my board, just a beginner and tempting my fate. What a rush! And yet the pull of the tide underneath took all my strength to resist. How easy it can be to slip away. These are the forces of life and so our call will be to accept the things we cannot change, all of the forces that are bigger than us. We must know when to ride the forward momentum and when to get the fuck out of the water. Pay attention to what washes up to shore for you around this time. Something will be revealed and whether it feels like a gift or a burden, it's likely both. C'est la vie.
